The MAX1667EAP+T is a versatile battery charger integrated circuit designed by Analog Devices / Maxim Integrated. It provides the necessary power control to charge batteries of any chemistry, including Li+, NiCd, NiMH, and Lead Acid. The device operates as a Level 2 charger, compliant with the Duracell/Intel Smart Battery Charger Specification.
Key features include a 2-wire SMBus serial interface for control of charge voltage and current, with 5-bit control for charge current and 11-bit control for voltage. It supports a maximum battery charge current of up to 4A and a battery pack voltage up to 18.4V. The input voltage can be up to 28V. The MAX1667EAP+T also offers ±1% voltage accuracy and greater than 95% efficiency.
Designed for applications such as notebook computers, charger base stations, personal digital assistants, and phones, this IC is available in a compact 20-pin SSOP package with a 2mm profile height. It is suitable for surface mount applications and operates within a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.
