The MAX1667EAP is a chemistry-independent, Level 2 smart battery charger IC designed by Analog Devices / Maxim Integrated. It provides the necessary power control to charge batteries of any chemistry, including Li+, NiCd, NiMH, and Lead Acid. All charging functions are managed via an SMBus 2-wire serial interface, allowing for precise control of charge voltage and current.
Key electrical specifications include a maximum battery charge current of up to 4A, a battery pack voltage capability of up to 18.4V, and an input voltage rating of up to 28V. The device boasts ±1% voltage accuracy and greater than 95% efficiency, contributing to optimal charging performance. It operates within a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.
This IC is housed in a compact 20-pin SSOP package with a 2mm profile height, suitable for surface mount applications.
