The MAX1644EAE+ from Analog Devices is a constant-off-time, PWM step-down DC-DC converter designed for applications requiring efficient power conversion. It features internal synchronous rectification, eliminating the need for an external Schottky diode and reducing component count. The device can deliver continuous load currents up to 2A.
This converter supports preset output voltages of +3.3V or +2.5V, or an adjustable output from +1.1V to VIN. It achieves high efficiencies of up to 95% and utilizes a current-mode, constant-off-time PWM control scheme with Idle Mode™ for high efficiency during light-load operation. The programmable constant-off-time architecture allows switching frequencies up to 350kHz, enabling optimization of performance trade-offs.
Key features include ±1% output accuracy, internal PMOS and NMOS switches with low on-resistance, adjustable soft-start for inrush current limiting, and a low-power shutdown mode that reduces supply current to below 1µA. The MAX1644EAE+ is available in a 16-pin SSOP package and operates within a +3V to +5.5V input voltage range.
Applications include +5V to +3.3V/+2.5V conversion, CPU I/O supply, PC Card and CardBus applications, notebook computers, and desktop bus-termination boards.
