The MAX1617MEE is a precise digital thermometer designed to measure both local package temperature and remote sensor temperature. It utilizes a standard 2-wire SMBus serial interface for communication, allowing for programming of alarm thresholds and reading temperature data. The sensor supports standard SMBus commands and alert response.
This device offers a wide operating temperature range of -55°C to +125°C with an accuracy of ±2°C for local measurements and ±3°C for remote measurements within specified ranges. It operates from a supply voltage of 3V to 5.5V and features low standby current (3μA typical) and auto-convert mode supply current (70μA max), making it suitable for power-sensitive applications.
The MAX1617MEE is available in a compact 16-pin QSOP surface-mount package, making it ideal for space-constrained designs. Its applications include desktop and notebook computers, smart battery packs, LAN servers, industrial controls, and test and measurement equipment.
Key features include two temperature channels, no calibration requirement, programmable alarms, and SMBus alert response support. The data format is 7 bits plus sign, with each bit corresponding to 1°C in two's complement format.
