The MAX1589EZT180+T is a 500mA low-dropout linear regulator designed for portable battery-powered equipment. It operates from an input voltage range of 1.62V to 3.6V and delivers a guaranteed continuous load current of 500mA with a low dropout voltage.
This regulator features a high-accuracy (±0.5%) preset output voltage of 1.8V. It includes an active-low, open-drain reset output that remains asserted for at least 70ms after the output voltage reaches regulation. Additional features include logic-controlled shutdown, short-circuit protection, and thermal-overload protection.
The device is available in a tiny 6-pin Thin SOT-23 package, making it suitable for space-constrained applications. Its internal PMOS pass transistor maintains low supply current, independent of load and dropout voltage.
Applications include notebook computers, cellular and PCS telephones, personal digital assistants (PDAs), digital still cameras, and other portable electronic devices.
