The MAX1570ETE+ is a high-efficiency charge pump LED current regulator designed by Analog Devices Inc. This IC drives up to five white LEDs with regulated constant current for uniform intensity. It utilizes a proprietary 1x/1.5x fractional charge pump and low-dropout current regulators to maintain high efficiency across the 2.7V to 5.5V input voltage range.
Key features include excellent 0.3% LED-to-LED current matching and a drive capability of 30mA per LED. The device operates at a fixed 1MHz switching frequency, enabling the use of tiny external components. It offers digital or PWM LED dimming control, a shutdown current of 0.1µA, and soft-start functionality to limit inrush current. Thermal-shutdown protection is also included.
The MAX1570ETE+ is supplied in a compact 16-pin 4mm x 4mm Thin QFN package, suitable for space-constrained applications. Its primary application is white LED backlighting for devices such as cell phones, PDAs, portable MP3 players, digital cameras, and camcorders.
