The MAX153EWP is a high-speed, microprocessor-compatible, 8-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) from Analog Devices / Maxim Integrated. It utilizes a half-flash technique to achieve a 660ns conversion time and can digitize at a rate of 1 million samples per second (Msps).
This ADC operates with single +5V or dual ±5V supplies and accepts either unipolar or bipolar inputs. A dedicated power-down pin reduces current consumption to a typical value of 1µA, making it suitable for battery-powered applications. The part returns from power-down to normal operating mode in less than 200ns.
Key features include an internal track/hold function, a 1MHz full-power bandwidth, and no requirement for an external clock. The MAX153EWP is available in a 20-pin SOIC package and is designed for surface mounting.
Applications for this ADC include cellular telephones, portable radios, battery-powered systems, burst-mode data acquisition, digital-signal processing, telecommunications, and high-speed servo loops.
