MAX15059BETE+

The MAX15059BETE+ is a versatile step-up DC-DC converter from Analog Devices, designed for applications requiring high output voltages and precise current monitoring. It operates with an input voltage range of 2.8V to 5.5V and can generate output voltages up to 76V.

This device utilizes a constant-frequency (400kHz) current-mode PWM architecture, ensuring a low-noise output voltage that is easy to filter. It includes an internal power MOSFET capable of boosting voltages and features internal soft-start circuitry to limit input current during startup. The MAX15059BETE+ also incorporates a high-side current monitor with a wide dynamic range, capable of monitoring currents from 500nA to 4mA with high accuracy. Resistor-adjustable current limiting provides protection against optical power transients.

Protection features include cycle-by-cycle current limiting for the boost converter switch, undervoltage lockout (UVLO), and thermal shutdown if the die temperature exceeds +125°C. The device is available in a thermally enhanced, 16-pin TQFN-EP package and operates across a temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.

Key applications include Avalanche Photodiode (APD) biasing and monitoring, PIN diode bias supplies, and low-noise varactor diode bias supplies, particularly in GPON and FBON modules.
