The MAX1501ETE+T is a highly integrated, linear battery charger with thermal regulation, designed by Analog Devices / Maxim Integrated for portable applications. This device simplifies charging solutions by integrating the current-sense resistor, PMOS pass element, and thermal-regulation circuitry.
It is capable of charging a single lithium-ion (Li+) cell or three-cell NiMH/NiCd batteries. The MAX1501ETE+T supports a wide input voltage range of 4.5V to 13V, with charging disabled if the input exceeds 6.5V. It offers a programmable fast-charge current up to 1.4A and features proprietary programmable die temperature regulation at +95°C, +115°C, and +135°C.
This battery charger IC operates over an extended temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. It is available in a compact 16-pin thermally enhanced 5mm x 5mm thin QFN package, suitable for space-constrained designs. The device includes features like input power detection (ACOK) and input under-/overvoltage protection.
Applications for the MAX1501ETE+T include cellular phones, PDAs, digital cameras, MP3 players, USB appliances, charging cradles, and Bluetooth equipment.
