The MAX1496EAI+ is a low-power, 3.5-digit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with integrated light-emitting diode (LED) drivers, manufactured by Analog Devices / Maxim Integrated. It operates from a single 2.7V to 5.25V power supply and features an internal reference, a high-accuracy on-chip oscillator, and a multiplexed LED display driver. The ADC is configurable for either a ±2V or ±200mV input range and outputs conversion results to an LED. The MAX1496 is a 3.5-digit (±1999 count) device.
This ADC utilizes a Sigma-Delta architecture and does not require external precision integrating capacitors, autozero capacitors, or crystal oscillators. It offers >100dB rejection of 50Hz and 60Hz line noise and includes continuous internal offset calibration. Other features include data hold, peak detection, and overrange/underrange detection.
The MAX1496EAI+ is supplied in a 28-pin SSOP package and operates over an extended temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. Its applications include digital panel meters, hand-held meters, digital voltmeters, and digital multimeters.
