The MAX14690NEWX+T by Analog Devices is a versatile battery charge-management solution tailored for low-power wearable electronics. This integrated circuit (IC) features a linear battery charger with a smart power selector, enabling operation even with a dead battery when connected to a power source.
The device incorporates two ultra-low-power buck regulators, each capable of delivering up to 200mA with a typical quiescent current of 900nA. Additionally, three ultra-low-power LDO linear regulators are included, each providing up to 100mA with a typical quiescent current of 600nA. These regulators can supply up to five regulated voltages, crucial for extending battery life in 24/7 operation devices.
The buck regulators operate in either automatic burst or forced PWM modes for optimized efficiency. The output voltages for both buck and LDO regulators are programmable via I2C. The IC also includes a programmable power controller for true-off or always-on states, a delayed reset signal, and voltage sequencing capabilities.
Packaged in a compact 36-WLP (2.69x2.44mm) with a 36-WFBGA, WLBGA case, the MAX14690NEWX+T is designed for surface mount installation. Its operating temperature range is -40°C to 85°C, and it operates from an input voltage of 2.7V to 5.5V.
