MAX121CPE Description

Short technical summary and product information.

The MAX121CPE is a complete, BiCMOS, serial-output, sampling 14-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) from Analog Devices / Maxim Integrated. It integrates an on-chip track/hold and a low-drift, low-noise, buried-zener voltage reference, offering fast conversion speeds and low power consumption.

This ADC achieves a throughput rate as high as 308k samples per second (ksps) with a conversion time of 2.9µs. It features a ±5V bipolar input range, which is overvoltage tolerant to ±15V. The device exhibits low noise and distortion with 78dB SINAD and -85dB THD. Power dissipation is only 210mW.

The MAX121CPE utilizes a successive-approximation architecture with a high-speed DAC. It operates with +5V and -12V or -15V power supplies. The device can be directly interfaced to the serial port of most popular digital-signal processors using the SPI interface standard. It operates with TTL- and CMOS-compatible clocks in the frequency range from 1.1MHz to 5.5MHz.

Available in a space-saving 16-pin DIP package, the MAX121CPE is suitable for applications in digital signal processing, audio and telecom processing, speech recognition and synthesis, DSP servo control, and spectrum analysis.
