The MA4SW210 is a series-shunt, broadband, PIN diode switch manufactured by MACOM Technology Solutions using their HMIC™ process. This monolithic, glass-encapsulated chip is designed for moderate power, high-performance switching applications.
It offers a broad bandwidth, specified from 50 MHz to 20 GHz and usable up to 26.5 GHz. Key electrical specifications include low insertion loss (e.g., 0.4 dB at 6 GHz, 0.7 dB at 20 GHz) and high isolation (e.g., 48 dB at 6 GHz, 34 dB at 20 GHz). The switch can handle up to 33 dBm CW power at +25°C and features a switching speed of 50 ns.
The HMIC™ process embeds silicon pedestals into low-loss glass, resulting in excellent performance. The chip is protected by a polymer coating for handling, and gold bond pads facilitate connections. The backside metallization allows for attachment via solder or conductive epoxy.
Applications for the MA4SW210 include Aerospace & Defense and ISM systems. It provides superior performance compared to discrete component designs.
