The NuMicro® M252SD2AE is a low-power microcontroller from Nuvoton Technology, built on the Arm® Cortex®-M23 core for the Armv8-M architecture. It runs at speeds up to 48 MHz, offering 64 Kbytes of embedded Flash memory and 12 Kbytes of embedded SRAM. The device supports In-System Programming (ISP) via a 4 Kbyte Flash loader memory (LDROM).
Designed for efficiency, this microcontroller operates within a wide supply voltage range of 1.8V to 5.5V and an extended temperature range of -40°C to +105°C. Its low power consumption is notable, with figures like 138 μA/MHz in Normal Run mode, 60 μA/MHz in Idle mode, and as low as 1.7 μA in Deep Power-down mode (RAM retention, RTC off). These characteristics make it well-suited for battery-powered IoT applications.
The M252SD2AE includes Nuvoton's proprietary Programmable Serial I/O (PSIO) interface with 4 channels, enabling emulation of various serial communication protocols. It also features a Voltage Adjustable Interface (VAI) with 6 I/O pins supporting a secondary I/O voltage from 1.65V to 5.5V. For security, it offers a 1-region programmable eXecute-Only-Memory (XOM), a tamper pin, 96-bit Unique Identification (UID), and 128-bit Unique Customer Identification (UCID).
Peripherals include Timers, Watchdog Timers, RTC, up to 50 GPIOs, 24 PWM channels, 2 USCI, 3 UART, 1 QSPI, 1 SPI/I²S, 2 I²C, 1 ISO-7816-3, 5 PDMA, and a 16-channel 12-bit 880 kSPS ADC. It is packaged in a 64-LQFP (7x7) surface-mount format.
