The LTC6820HUD#TRPBF from Analog Devices is an isoSPI Isolated Communications Interface IC designed for bidirectional SPI communication between two isolated devices. It utilizes a single twisted-pair connection and can achieve hundreds of volts of isolation using standard transformers. This device supports data rates up to 1Mbps over cable lengths of up to 100 meters, making it suitable for applications requiring robust communication in noisy environments.
The LTC6820 features differential signal transmission with matched source and sink currents, reducing EMI and eliminating the need for a transformer center tap. Its precision window comparators in the receiver detect differential signals, and drive currents and thresholds are configurable via an external resistor divider for optimization. The IC operates over a wide voltage range of 2.7V to 5.5V and interfaces with logic levels from 1.7V to 5.5V. It also boasts an ultralow 2µA idle current and automatic wake-up detection.
Designed for demanding applications, the LTC6820HUD#TRPBF is AEC-Q100 qualified for automotive use and engineered for ISO26262 compliant systems. It requires no software changes in most SPI systems, simplifying integration. The device is available in a 16-lead QFN package and operates within an industrial temperature range of -40°C to 125°C.
Key features include its ability to provide simple galvanic isolation, bidirectional interface over a single twisted pair, and configurable settings for high noise immunity or low power consumption. It is well-suited for industrial networking, battery monitoring systems, and remote sensor applications.
