The LTC4380HDD-2#PBF is a low quiescent current surge stopper IC designed by Analog Devices to protect sensitive loads from high voltage transients. It operates over a wide 4V to 72V input voltage range and draws only 8µA of quiescent current, making it suitable for always-on and battery-powered applications.
Overvoltage protection is achieved by clamping the gate voltage of an external N-channel MOSFET, limiting the output to a safe level during transients such as automotive load dump. The device offers selectable internal gate clamp voltages of 31.5V or 50V for 12V and 24V/28V systems. Reverse input protection to -60V is provided by driving back-to-back MOSFETs, eliminating the need for a Schottky diode.
The LTC4380HDD-2#PBF includes an adjustable fault timer with MOSFET stress acceleration, ensuring safe operation during overcurrent and overvoltage conditions. It is available in a compact 10-DFN (3mm x 3mm) surface mount package, suitable for space-constrained designs. The device is AEC-Q100 qualified for automotive applications and is RoHS3 compliant.
