The LTC4226IUD-2#TRPBF from LT is a dual hot swap controller that enables safe insertion and removal of two power paths into or from a live backplane or powered connector. Utilizing N-channel pass transistors, it supports supply voltages ranging from 4.5V to 44V, with adjustable ramp-up rates.
Key features include selectable current limit ratios and a dual-rate fault timer, which accommodate noisy loads and momentary high peak currents without interruption, while protecting the MOSFET from extended overcurrent events. The controller offers options for automatic retry or latchoff after an overcurrent fault. It can also be configured as a bidirectional current limiter/circuit breaker and supports parallel power paths for high current applications.
Available in MSOP and 16-pin QFN (3mm x 3mm) packages, the LTC4226 is suitable for applications such as Apple FireWire/IEEE 1394, disk drives, and rugged 12V/24V systems requiring hot board or connector insertion.
