The Analog Devices LTC2943IDD#PBF is an integrated circuit designed for multicell battery monitoring in portable products. This gas gauge IC measures battery charge state, voltage, current, and its own temperature using an internal 14-bit No Latency Delta-Sigma ADC.
With a wide operating voltage range of 3.6V to 20V, the LTC2943 is suitable for various multicell battery configurations. It features a precision coulomb counter that integrates current through a sense resistor, enabling accurate charge and discharge measurements. The device offers 1% accuracy for voltage, current, and charge, with a ±50mV sense voltage range and high-side sensing capability.
Communication is handled via an I2C/SMBus interface, allowing access to internal registers where measurements are stored. The LTC2943 also includes programmable high and low thresholds for all measured quantities, triggering alerts via SMBus alert protocol or internal status flags when thresholds are exceeded. Its quiescent current is less than 120µA, making it efficient for battery-powered devices.
The LTC2943IDD#PBF is supplied in a compact 8-lead 3mm x 3mm DFN package, suitable for surface mount applications. Its versatile functionality makes it ideal for power tools, electric bicycles, portable medical equipment, and video cameras.
