The LT4363CMS-2#TRPBF by Analog Devices is an overvoltage protection regulator designed to drive an external N-channel MOSFET, safeguarding load circuitry from high voltage surges and short-duration transients.
This device operates across a wide supply voltage range of 4V to 80V and can withstand voltages down to -60V without damage. It features an internal charge pump for efficient MOSFET turn-on, minimizing power loss. The LT4363 includes an active current limit circuit that monitors voltage across an optional sense resistor, regulating the GATE pin to limit the sense voltage to 50mV or 25mV under severe output short conditions.
A fault timer mechanism allows the load to continue operating during short transient events, protecting the MOSFET from damage due to prolonged overvoltage. The timer period is inversely proportional to the voltage across the MOSFET, helping to keep it within its safe operating area. The device resets by pulling the SHDN pin low for at least 100µs and then high with a slew rate of at least 10V/ms.
Packaged in a 10-MSOP and supplied on tape and reel, the LT4363CMS-2#TRPBF is suitable for applications requiring robust protection against voltage fluctuations, such as automotive systems.
The supply voltage range is 4V to 80V.
The device provides overvoltage protection up to 60V below ground.
The active current limit circuit controls the GATE pin to limit the sense voltage to 50mV typically. During a severe output short that brings OUT below 2V, the sense voltage is reduced to 25mV.
The FLT pin pulls low when the TMR voltage reaches 1.275V, and the MOSFET is turned off when the TMR voltage reaches 1.375V.
Pull the SHDN pin low for at least 100µs, then drive it high with a slew rate of at least 10V/ms to reset.
The device is available in a 10-MSOP package.
