The LT4356HS-1#PBF is a surge stopper IC designed to protect loads from high voltage transients. It regulates the output during overvoltage events such as load dump in automotive systems by controlling the gate of an external N-channel MOSFET. The output is limited to a safe adjustable clamp voltage up to 27V, allowing loads to continue functioning during a surge.
The device operates over a wide input voltage range of 4V to 80V and includes reverse input protection to -60V, enhancing system robustness. It also provides overcurrent protection by monitoring the voltage drop across an external sense resistor with a 50mV threshold. An adjustable fault timer and a fault output flag provide warning and shutdown capabilities. The auxiliary amplifier can be used as a voltage comparator or linear regulator controller.
