The LT1762 series from LT are micropower, low noise, low dropout regulators designed for battery-powered systems. These devices can supply up to 150mA of output current with a typical dropout voltage of 270mV. A key feature is their low quiescent current of 25µA, which does not rise significantly in dropout mode.
With the addition of an external 0.01µF bypass capacitor, the output noise can be reduced to 20µVRMS over a 10Hz to 100kHz bandwidth. The LT1762 regulators are stable with output capacitors as low as 2.2µF, and can utilize small ceramic capacitors without requiring series resistance. Internal protection circuitry includes reverse battery protection, current limiting, and thermal limiting.
These regulators are available in fixed output voltages of 2.5V, 3V, 3.3V, and 5V, as well as an adjustable version with a 1.22V reference. The LT1762EMS8#TRPBF. is supplied in an 8-lead MSOP package, suitable for space-constrained applications. Applications include cellular phones, battery-powered systems, frequency synthesizers, and noise-sensitive instrumentation.
