The LT1307BIS8 is a single-cell micropower DC/DC converter from LT, operating at a fixed 600kHz PWM frequency. It is designed to function with input voltages as low as 1V, making it suitable for battery-powered applications. This device achieves true current mode PWM performance from a single cell supply.
The LT1307B variant does not shift into Burst Mode operation at light loads, ensuring continuous switching at the expense of light load efficiency. It features a low-battery detector with a 200mV reference and shuts down to less than 5mA. The internal NPN power switch handles up to 500mA with a low voltage drop of 295mV at 500mA.
Unlike competitive devices, the LT1307BIS8 does not require large electrolytic capacitors. Its high switching frequency allows for the use of small surface mount multilayer ceramic capacitors. The device is available in an 8-lead MSOP package, suitable for surface mounting.
Typical applications include pagers, cordless telephones, GPS receivers, battery backup systems, portable electronic equipment, glucose meters, and diagnostic medical instrumentation.
The device operates with an input voltage as low as 1V.
Typical output is 3.3V at 75mA.
The switching frequency is fixed at 600kHz.
The typical quiescent current is 1mA (no load).
It is available in an 8-lead MSOP (8-MSOP) surface-mount package.
The low-battery detector uses a 200mV reference.
The switch saturation voltage is 295mV at 500mA.
