The LT1039ISW is a versatile triple RS232 driver/receiver IC manufactured by Linear Technology. It includes a shutdown feature, allowing for power saving when not in use, with no supply current drawn in shutdown mode. Each receiver can accept inputs down to -30V and drive TTL or CMOS logic, while the RS232 drivers accept TTL logic inputs and output RS232 voltage levels.
This device is fully protected against overloads and can withstand short circuits to ground or up to -30V without damage. Its bipolar circuitry ensures ruggedness and immunity to latchup. The LT1039ISW meets all RS232 specifications and offers a 30kΩ input impedance. It is available in an SO package and operates from -5V to -15V supplies.
The LT1039 is also offered in a 16-pin version (LT1039-16) without the shutdown or BIAS pin functions. For applications requiring 15kV ESD protection, the LT1039A variant is available.
