The LSI Corporation LS7262 is a MOS integrated circuit that serves as a fundamental building block for brushless DC motor controllers. It generates the necessary signals to control three or four-phase brushless DC motors by responding to changes at the SENSE inputs from motor position sensors for electronic commutation.
This IC offers a wide operating voltage range of +5V to +28V and supports externally selectable input-to-output codes for 60°, 120°, 240°, or 300° electrical sensor spacing. It is capable of direct drive for P-channel and N-channel FETs, as well as PNP and NPN transistors, with six outputs to drive a power switching bridge directly. The LS7262 supports both open-loop and closed-loop motor speed control, along with analog control for speed, direction, and output enable. It also features positive static braking and overcurrent sensing for winding protection.
The LS7262 is available in a 20-pin SOIC package. It is noted as NRND (Not Recommended for New Designs) and has a minimum purchase requirement of 10 pieces for the LS7262-S variant.
