The LP4060AB5F from LOWPOWER is a complete constant-current/constant-voltage linear charger designed for single-cell lithium-ion batteries. Its ThinSOT package and minimal external component requirements make it suitable for portable applications.
This IC is specifically designed to operate within USB power specifications, eliminating the need for an external sense resistor or blocking diode due to its internal MOSFET architecture. Thermal feedback regulates the charge current to manage die temperature during high power operation or in high ambient temperatures. The charge voltage is fixed at 4.2V, and the charge current can be programmed externally with a single resistor.
The LP4060AB5F automatically terminates the charge cycle when the charge current drops to 1/10th of the programmed value after the final float voltage is reached. Additional features include charge current monitoring, undervoltage lockout, automatic recharge, and a status pin indicating charge termination and input voltage presence.
