LP3972SQ-I514/NOPB Description

Short technical summary and product information.

The Texas Instruments LP3972SQ-I514/NOPB is a multi-function programmable power management unit (PMU) optimized for low-power handheld applications. It is designed for advanced application processors requiring dynamic voltage management.

The device integrates six low-dropout low-noise linear regulators (LDOs) and three DC-DC magnetic buck regulators. The LDOs provide programmable output voltages from 1V to 3.3V with ±3% accuracy, including LDO_RTC (30mA), LDO1 (300mA), LDO2 (150mA), LDO3 (150mA), LDO4 (150mA), and LDO5 (400mA). The buck regulators offer programmable output voltages from 0.725V to 3.3V, with up to 95% efficiency and a 1.6A output current capability.

Additional features include a backup battery charger with automatic switching for coin-cell batteries and supercapacitors, two GPIOs, and thermal and current overload protections. An I2C-compatible high-speed serial interface allows for software control of regulator functions and settings. The LP3972SQ-I514/NOPB operates within a voltage range of 2.7V to 5.5V and has an operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.

This PMIC is supplied in a 40-WQFN (5x5) package, suitable for surface mount applications. It is delivered on tape and reel in quantities of 1000 pieces.
