The LM95231CIMM-2 from Texas Instruments is a precision dual remote diode temperature sensor (RDTS) utilizing TruTherm™ technology. This sensor is designed to accurately measure die temperatures of remote ICs or diode junctions, as well as on-board local temperatures. It features an SMBus 2.0 compatible interface and supports programmable resolution for both local (9-bit) and remote (12-bit) readings.
The device operates within a supply voltage range of 3.0V to 3.6V and has a typical supply current of 402μA. The operating temperature range is specified from 0°C to 125°C, with accuracy ratings of ±3°C for the local sensor and ±0.75°C (max) for the remote sensor under specific test conditions (0°C to 85°C). Key features include one-shot conversion, programmable resolution, shutdown mode, and standby mode.
Available in an 8-pin VSSOP package, the LM95231CIMM-2 is suitable for surface mount applications. Its design incorporates analog and digital filtering for the thermal diode input stage, reducing processor-to-processor non-ideality spread. This makes it ideal for processor/computer system thermal management in laptops, desktops, workstations, and servers, as well as electronic test equipment and office electronics.
