The LM89CIMM/NOPB from Texas Instruments is an 11-bit digital temperature sensor designed for accurate temperature monitoring. It features an SMBus serial interface, allowing it to communicate effectively in system management applications.
This sensor provides both local temperature sensing of its own die and remote sensing of an external device, such as a processor thermal diode or a diode-connected transistor. The remote diode temperature accuracy is ±0.75°C under specific conditions, while the local sensor accuracy is ±3.0°C over its operating range of 0°C to 125°C. The resolution is 7-bit for local sensing and 10-bit for remote sensing.
Key features include an ALERT output, programmable limits, and shutdown/standby modes, making it suitable for various thermal management tasks. The device operates within a supply voltage range of 3.0 V to 3.6 V and consumes a maximum of 1700 µA of supply current.
The LM89CIMM/NOPB is available in an 8-VSSOP package, designed for surface mounting. Its ability to accurately sense die temperatures of remote ICs and on-board local temperatures makes it a versatile component for system monitoring and protection.
