The Texas Instruments LM86CIMX/NOPB is an 11-bit digital temperature sensor designed for accurate temperature monitoring in various systems. It features a two-wire SMBus serial interface, allowing it to measure its own temperature and the temperature of an external device, such as a processor thermal diode or a diode-connected transistor.
Key specifications include a supply voltage range of 3.0V to 3.6V and a typical supply current of 0.8mA. The sensor boasts a remote diode temperature accuracy of ±0.75°C under specific conditions (TA=30°C, TD=80°C) and a local temperature accuracy of ±3.0°C over its operating range of 0°C to 125°C. The remote sensing temperature range is 0°C to 85°C.
The LM86CIMX/NOPB provides a resolution of 7 bits for local sensing and 10 bits for remote sensing. It includes features such as One-Shot, Output Switch, Programmable Limit, Shutdown Mode, and Standby Mode. The ALERT output supports SMBus 2.0 protocol, and the T_CRIT_A output is useful for system shutdown.
This sensor is available in an 8-pin SOIC package, suitable for surface mounting. Its applications include computer system thermal management for laptops, desktops, and workstations, as well as electronic test equipment and office electronics.
