The LM317LBDR2G from Texas Instruments is a versatile, adjustable 3-terminal positive voltage regulator. It is designed to supply in excess of 100 mA over an output voltage range of 1.2 V to 37 V. This regulator is exceptionally easy to use, requiring only two external resistors to set the output voltage.
Key features include internal current limiting, thermal shutdown, and safe area compensation, making the device highly reliable and essentially blow-out proof. The LM317L is suitable for a wide variety of applications, including local on-card regulation. It can also be configured as a programmable output regulator or a precision current regulator by connecting a fixed resistor between the adjustment and output pins.
Available in standard 3-lead transistor packages such as TO-92 and SOIC-8, the LM317LBDR2G simplifies inventory by eliminating the need to stock many fixed voltage regulators. It is also offered with an NCV prefix for automotive applications requiring AEC-Q100 qualification and PPAP capability.
