LM2438T

The LM2438T from Texas Instruments is an integrated high-voltage CRT driver circuit designed for color monitor applications. This monolithic IC contains three high input impedance, wide band amplifiers that directly drive the RGB cathodes of a CRT. Each channel has an internally set gain of -14 and can drive CRT capacitive loads as well as resistive loads.

Key electrical specifications include an operating supply voltage range of 60V to 85V and a bias voltage range of 8V to 15V. The input voltage range is 0V to 5V, with an output voltage range of 15V to 75V. The device offers a typical supply current of 18mA and a typical bias current of 11mA. Electrical characteristics include a typical DC voltage gain of -14, a linearity error of 8%, and a rise time of 13.9 ns.

This driver is well-matched with the LM1279 video preamp and is stable with 0-20 pF capacitive loads and inductive peaking networks. It is designed for applications such as 1024 x 768 displays up to 60 Hz refresh and pixel clock frequencies up to 60 MHz, particularly in monitors using video blanking.
