The LIS331HH from STMicroelectronics is an ultra-low-power, high-performance 3-axis linear accelerometer designed for motion sensing applications. This "nano" family device provides dynamically selectable full scales of ±6g, ±12g, and ±24g, allowing for flexible measurement capabilities.
Key electrical features include a wide supply voltage range of 2.16 V to 3.6 V and low-voltage compatible I/Os. It boasts ultra-low current consumption, down to 10 µA in its ultra low-current mode. The device supports I2C/SPI digital output interfaces and provides a 16-bit data output. It also features two independent programmable interrupt engines for detecting inertial events and a sleep-to-wake-up function for power saving.
Designed for robust performance, the LIS331HH has a high shock survivability of 10000 g. It is available in a compact LGA16 package, measuring 3x3x1 mm, and is suitable for surface mounting. The operating temperature range is extended, from -40 °C to +85 °C, making it suitable for various environmental conditions.
Applications for this accelerometer include pedometers, gaming and virtual reality input devices, motion-activated functions, impact recognition and logging, intelligent power saving for handheld devices, and vibration monitoring and compensation.
