The Sanyo Denki LB1409 is a monolithic digital IC designed as a Level Meter Driver for 9 LEDs. It features a built-in DC amplifier with variable gain, allowing for wide application possibilities when used with external resistors. The comparator levels can be set in 3 dB steps, ranging from -18 dB to +6 dB.
This device supports a broad supply voltage range of 5.5V to 16V (or 7V to 16V when using pin Vref 2). It can display input levels in a bar shape using nine red or green LEDs. The operating temperature range is from -10°C to +60°C, with a storage temperature range of -40°C to +125°C. The LB1409 comes in a DIP16 package and is suitable for applications such as AC level meters (like VU meters) and DC level meters.
Absolute maximum ratings include a maximum supply voltage of 18V and an allowable power dissipation of 500mW at 55°C. The device is designed for general-purpose applications and is not intended for high-reliability systems such as life-support or aircraft control.
