The L99MC6 from STMicroelectronics is a highly flexible monolithic medium current output driver. This device features 3 independently configurable high/low-side channels and 3 dedicated low-side channels, providing a total of 6 outputs. It is designed to control inductive loads, incandescent bulbs, and LEDs.
Key electrical specifications include a typical On-Resistance (RON) of 0.7 Ω at 25 °C and a minimum current limit of 0.6 A per output. The device supports a VCC supply voltage range of 3.0 V to 5.25 V and can handle load voltages from 6V to 28V. It also features a very low current consumption of 5 µA in standby mode.
Integrated diagnostic functions provide information on normal operation, open-load detection in the off-state, overcurrent, temperature warning, and overtemperature conditions. Communication and control are managed via a 16-bit standard serial peripheral interface (SPI). The L99MC6 is housed in a PowerSSO-16 package and is suitable for surface mounting.
Applications for the L99MC6 include relay drivers, LED drivers, motor drivers, and mirror adjustments. It can also be used in a half-bridge configuration with cross-current protection.
