The L6219DS from Allegro Microsystems is a versatile dual full-bridge PWM motor driver. It is engineered to drive both windings of a bipolar stepper motor or to provide bidirectional control for two DC motors. The device supports output sustaining voltages up to 45V and can handle a continuous output current of 750mA.
Key features include internal pulse-width modulation (PWM) control for output current, with user-selectable current limits. The outputs are optimized for low saturation voltage drop. For protection against inductive transients, the bridges incorporate ground clamp and flyback diodes. Internal delays prevent crossover currents during direction switching, and thermal protection circuitry disables outputs if the chip temperature exceeds safe operating limits. Special power-up sequencing is not required.
The L6219DS is supplied in a 24-pin surface-mountable SOIC package. It is lead (Pb) free with 100% matte tin leadframe plating, making it suitable for various general-purpose applications requiring precise motor control.
This motor driver is interchangeable with the SGS L6219DS and is similar to the Dual PBL3717 and UC3770.
