The KSZ8995MI is a 5-port 10/100 Mbps Ethernet switch IC from Micrel Inc. It integrates five MACs and five Fast Ethernet transceivers fully compliant to the IEEE 802.3u standard. The device uses a shared memory based switch fabric with a fully non-blocking configuration and provides 1.4 Gbps high-performance memory bandwidth.
This switch IC supports IEEE 802.1q tag-based VLAN with 16 VLANs and a full-range VID, suitable for DMZ port, WAN/LAN separation, or inter-VLAN switch links. It also supports IEEE 802.1d Spanning Tree Protocol. Ports 4 and 5 support 100BaseFX modes. The device includes programmable rate limiting from 0 Mbps to 100 Mbps on a per-port basis for both ingress and egress, with separate rate options for high and low priority traffic. Flow control is enabled.
The KSZ8995MI provides 34 MIB counters per port for statistics gathering and supports IGMP v1/v2 snooping for multicast packet filtering. It can handle huge frame sizes up to 1916 bytes per frame. Management is via an SPI slave or MDIO (MII PHY only) serial interface for register configuration.
