The Microchip Technology KSZ8695PI, also known as CENTAUR, is a single-chip PCI gateway solution designed for residential gateways and small office environments. It integrates a high-performance ARM9 CPU core running at 166MHz, featuring 8KB I-cache and 8KB D-cache, along with a memory management unit for Linux and WinCE support.

This device boasts XceleRouter technology for accelerated packet processing and proven wire-speed switching capabilities, including 802.1Q tag-based VLAN and QoS support. It includes five patented mixed-signal, low-powered Fast Ethernet transceivers with corresponding MAC units, providing one port for WAN and four for LAN switching. The advanced memory interface supports up to 64MB of total memory space for various memory types.

The KSZ8695PI features a 33MHz 32-bit PCI interface (Version 2.1) that supports bus mastership or guest-mode. It offers extensive features like 802.1D Spanning Tree Protocol support and programmable rate-limiting per port from 0Mbps to 100Mbps. The component is supplied in a 289-PBGA (19x19) package and is designed for surface mount applications.

This integrated switch IC is suitable for applications requiring high networking integration, performance, and BOM cost savings. Its design facilitates the incorporation of various system interfaces, including 802.11 a/g/b wireless LAN.
