ISO6721RBDR

The ISO6721RBDR from Texas Instruments is a high-performance, dual-channel digital isolator suitable for cost-sensitive applications. It provides up to 3000 V RMS isolation rating per UL 1577 and is certified by VDE, TUV, CSA, and CQC. This device offers robust electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), including system-level ESD, EFT, and surge immunity, along with low emissions.

Key electrical specifications include a 50-Mbps data rate, ±150 kV/µs typical CMTI, and a wide supply range of 1.71 V to 5.5 V. It supports 1.71-V to 5.5-V level translation and features a low propagation delay of 11 ns typical. The isolator operates within a wide temperature range of –40°C to +125°C.

Each isolation channel utilizes TI's double capacitive silicon dioxide (SiO2) insulation barrier. The ISO6721B device has 2 isolation channels with one channel in each direction. In the event of input power or signal loss, the default output is high for devices without the F suffix. The ISO6721RBDR is supplied in a narrow 8-pin SOIC (D-8) package, making it a pin-to-pin upgrade for older generations.

Applications for the ISO6721RBDR include power supplies, motor drives, factory automation, building automation, lighting, and appliances.
