The Texas Instruments ISO1412DWR is an isolated RS-485 and RS-422 transceiver designed for robust communication in demanding environments. It provides 5kVrms of isolation for one minute, ensuring safety and signal integrity.
This transceiver supports full-duplex communication at data rates up to 500kbps, with options for 12Mbps and 50Mbps also available. It features a wide operating temperature range from -40°C to 125°C and operates with logic-side supply voltages from 1.71V to 5.5V and bus-side supply voltages from 3V to 5.5V.
The ISO1412DWR includes failsafe receiver logic for bus open, short, and idle conditions, and offers 1/8 unit load capability for up to 256 nodes on the bus. It boasts high common-mode transient immunity (CMTI) of 100kV/µs typical and includes protection against ±30kV HBM, ±16kV IEC 61000-4-2 contact discharge, and ±4kV IEC 61000-4-4 electrical fast transients.
Packaged in a wide-body SOIC-16, the ISO1412DWR is suitable for surface mount applications. Its design ensures glitch-free power-up and power-down for hot-plugging scenarios and is pin-compatible with many other isolated RS-485 transceivers.
