The Renesas ISL9238CHRTZ-TK is a versatile Buck-Boost Narrow Output Voltage DC (NVDC) charger IC. It provides NVDC charging, system bus regulation, and protection features for devices such as tablets, ultrabooks, laptops, and mobile power banks.
Utilizing Renesas' R3 technology, this charger IC ensures high light-load efficiency and rapid transient response. It accepts input power from various sources including AC/DC adapters, USB PD ports, and travel adapters to safely charge battery packs with up to 4 series Li-ion cells. The NVDC topology maintains a stable system bus voltage by regulating the system output to a narrow DC range.
The ISL9238CHRTZ-TK can operate solely on battery power, adapter power, or a combination of both. It includes the PSSYS (System Power Monitor) function for systems compliant with Intel IMVP standards, providing an analog signal representing total platform power. This output connects to Renesas IMVP core regulators for compliant power domain functionality.
