The ISL8205MIRZ-T is a non-isolated Point-of-Load (PoL) DC/DC step-down power module manufactured by Renesas. It integrates the controller, power MOSFETs, and inductor into a compact 22-PowerFQFN module, requiring only a few external components for operation.
This module delivers up to 5A of continuous output current from an input voltage range of 2.6V to 5.5V. The output voltage is adjustable from 0.6V up to 5.2V with ±1.6% accuracy over line, load, and temperature. Typical efficiency reaches 95%. The switching frequency is set to 1.8MHz by default and can be adjusted via an external resistor from 680kHz to 3.5MHz, or synchronized to an external clock.
The ISL8205M includes a selectable PFM mode for improved light-load efficiency and a 100% duty cycle LDO mode for extended battery life. A programmable soft-start reduces inrush current, and an automatic output discharge ensures a soft stop. Protection features include overcurrent, overvoltage, overtemperature, undervoltage lockout, and negative overcurrent with hiccup mode.
The module is surface-mountable in a 22-PowerFQFN package measuring 7.5mm x 4.5mm x 1.85mm. It operates over a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. The device is RoHS3 compliant with exemption 7C-I.
