The ISL8202MIRZ-T is a 3A single channel DC/DC step-down power module from Renesas. It integrates the controller, MOSFETs, and inductor into a compact 22-PowerFQFN module, requiring only a few external components for operation. The module operates from a 2.6V to 5.5V input voltage range and delivers an adjustable output voltage as low as 0.6V with ±1.6% accuracy over line, load, and temperature.
Based on current mode PWM control, the ISL8202MIRZ-T provides fast transient response and excellent loop stability. The default switching frequency is 1.8MHz, adjustable from 680kHz to 3.5MHz via an external resistor, and it supports external synchronization up to 3.5MHz. Efficiency reaches up to 95% under typical conditions (Vin=5V, Vout=1.2V, Iout=3A).
The module includes a selectable PFM mode for improved light-load efficiency and a 100% duty cycle LDO mode to extend battery life. A programmable soft-start reduces inrush current, and automatic output discharge ensures a soft stop. Protection features include overcurrent (OCP), overtemperature (OTP), overvoltage (OVP), short-circuit (SCP), and undervoltage lockout (UVLO).
