The Renesas ISL8013IRZ-T is a monolithic, synchronous step-down DC/DC converter designed for high efficiency and performance. It can deliver up to 3A of continuous output current from an input voltage range of 2.7V to 5.5V. This regulator utilizes a current control architecture for fast transient response and excellent loop stability, enabling low duty cycle operation at high frequencies.
Key features include internal P-channel and N-channel MOSFETs to minimize external component count and maximize efficiency, achieving up to 97% efficiency. The device supports 100% duty cycle operation, allowing for a dropout voltage of less than 300mV at 3A. It operates at a 1MHz switching frequency, facilitating the use of small external components. Fault protection is integrated, including hiccup mode current limiting for short circuit and overcurrent conditions, an output overvoltage comparator, and over-temperature monitoring.
The ISL8013IRZ-T is supplied in a compact 16-lead 4x4mm QFN package with an exposed pad for low thermal resistance. This package is surface-mount compatible. The regulator is suitable for applications such as DC/DC POL modules, and power supplies for microcontrollers, microprocessors, FPGAs, and DSPs.
