It boasts features such as direct bit set/reset capability and enhanced control word read capability. The device provides 2.5mA drive capability on all I/O ports and exhibits low standby power consumption of only 10 μA.

Its static CMOS circuit design ensures low operating power, and TTL compatibility over the full military temperature range, along with bus-hold circuitry, eliminates the need for pull-up resistors.
