HUGD50

The Gaia Converter HUGD-50 is a high-reliability hold-up module providing a robust solution for maintaining electronic system operation during input bus drop-outs. This module offers a unique approach to reduce capacitance needs by charging an external capacitor to a high voltage (typically 38V) while limiting input current.

With a power range from 4W to 50W, the HUGD-50 boasts high efficiency of 98%. It is compatible with both 9-36VDC and 16-40VDC input voltage DC/DC converters. The 'power fail voltage' is externally adjustable by the user between 8.8V and 15.3V, offering flexibility in system design. The module includes monitoring signals and programmable inrush current limitation.

The HUGD-50 operates in three modes: Charging, Normal Operation, and Power Fail. In normal operation, it consumes less than 1W. The voltage drop between input and output is minimal, less than 150mV in the worst case (50W power and 9 VDC input). The module supports RoHS or Leaded process options, with specific suffixes for temperature range and serialization.

This hold-up device connects between the line source and DC/DC modules, or between EMI filters/pre-regulators and the converters. It is essential for applications requiring uninterrupted power supply during transient voltage sags or brief power outages.
