The HSDL-1100 from HP is an infrared transceiver that facilitates the interface between logic and IR signals for through-air, serial, half-duplex IR data links. It is designed to meet the IrDA Physical Layer Specification and supports data rates up to 4 Mbps. This transceiver is backward compatible with slower speeds and offers excellent noise immunity.
The HSDL-1100 integrates a high-speed, high-efficiency TS AlGaAs 870 nm LED, a silicon PIN photodiode, and a bipolar silicon integrated circuit. The IC includes an LED driver and a receiver that provides two output signals: RXD-A for signal rates from 2.4 to 115.2 Kb/s, and RXD-B for signal rates of 576 Kb/s and 4.0 Mb/s. The receiver is optimized for sensitivity to IrDA signals while minimizing sensitivity to out-of-band signals.
This infrared transceiver is available in several mounting options, including a front mount orientation. It is designed to compensate for light loss through cosmetic windows and is fully supported by all interface chips. Applications for the HSDL-1100 include notebook PCs, LANs, telephones, pagers, printers, cameras, and industrial handheld devices.
