The HMC1197LP7FETR is a Direct Quadrature Modulator with Fractional-N PLL & VCO RFIC from Analog Devices, designed for digital modulation applications. It operates across a wide frequency range of 0.1 to 4.0 GHz, making it suitable for Cellular/3G, LTE/WiMAX/4G, Broadband Wireless Access, and ISM circuits.
Key electrical specifications include a very low noise floor of -159.5 dBm/Hz, excellent carrier and sideband suppression, and high linearity with a +28.5 dBm OIP3. The device offers a typical output power of +10.5 dBm at P1dB and a typical phase noise of -110 dBc/Hz in band. It supports a maximum phase detector rate of 100 MHz and features a PLL FOM of -230 dBc/Hz in Integer Mode and -227 dBc/Hz in Fractional Mode. The integrated RMS jitter is less than 180 fs.
This RFIC is housed in a compact 48-lead 7x7 mm QFN package (LP7) with an exposed pad, designed for surface mounting. The RF output port is single-ended and matched to 50 Ohms, requiring no external components. Auxiliary LO output is available for distributing identical frequency and phase signals to multiple destinations. The device operates within a voltage range of 4.75V to 5.25V and consumes 320 mA of current.
