A logic input controls the slope of the differential output signal, with timing set by on-chip components.

The HI-8585 includes 37.5 ohms in series with each line driver output, while the HI-8586 provides an option to bypass most of this resistance for external series protection circuits. Both devices operate from 12 to 15 Volt supplies and are available in plastic and ceramic package options, including Surface Mount and DIP, with thermally enhanced SOIC packages also offered.

These line drivers are suitable for industrial and extended temperature ranges, making them ideal for avionics and data communication applications. They facilitate CMOS/TTL to ARINC level conversion and CMOS/TTL to RZ & NRZ level conversion.
