The HEF4514BT from Philips is a 1-of-16 decoder/demultiplexer integrated circuit designed for logic applications. It incorporates input latches, allowing data to be stored and outputs to remain stable. The device features four binary weighted address inputs (A0 to A3), a latch enable input (EL), and an active LOW enable input (E).
When the latch enable (EL) is HIGH, the selected output is determined by the data on the address inputs. When EL goes LOW, the last data present at the address inputs are stored in the latches, and the outputs remain stable. With the enable input (E) LOW, the selected output is HIGH; when E is HIGH, all outputs are LOW. The enable input does not affect the state of the latch.
This decoder/demultiplexer is suitable for applications such as digital multiplexing, address decoding, and hexadecimal/BCD decoding. The outputs (O0 to O15) are mutually exclusive and active HIGH. The HEF4514BT is available in a 24-lead SO package.
