The HEF40374B from Philips is an octal D-type flip-flop designed for interfacing with 3-state buses. It features common clock input (CP) and active LOW output enable input (EO). Data on the D-inputs is transferred to storage during the LOW-to-HIGH transition of the clock input.
This device is primarily used as an 8-bit positive edge-triggered storage register. The 3-state output buffers are controlled by the output enable input. A HIGH on EO forces the outputs to a high impedance OFF-state, while a LOW on EO allows the data in the register to appear at the outputs. The output stages offer high current capability, suitable for driving highly capacitive loads.
The HEF40374B operates with a supply voltage range of 3 to 15V. It features hysteresis on the CP input for improved noise rejection and Schmitt-trigger action on the E input for tolerance to slower input rise and fall times. This device is pin and functionally compatible with the TTL ‘374’ device. It is available in 20-lead DIL (plastic and ceramic) and 20-lead SO (plastic) packages.
